Wood Look Floating Shelves (with paint and stain!)

Get this “simple to do” wood seem with paint and stain on any undertaking from furniture to decor!

Hello there my amazing friends! Wow, lifetime has been so outrageous about right here currently. SO a lot going on. I will be happy when points settle down a little bit so I can get again to all the fun initiatives I have prepared. I hope you haven’t minded observing some more mature posts I’ve pulled from the archive! I figure some of you may possibly have missed them the 1st time close to so could be a very good time to revisit.

But today I’ve obtained a new just one for  ya! I am striving tricky to get this hall toilet completed. (and it nearly is except for decorating and a couple of ultimate touches, yippee!)

Regrettably, items went in a little bit of a unique course somewhat simply because I could not get that vanity cabinet. BUT I appreciate how it went! Occasionally issues just get the job done out for the far better, adore that.

I’m not demonstrating you the complete lavatory currently. I’m sharing the floating shelves that I gave a “wood look” to with paint and stain.

And as a refresher…here is how they used to look with the previous wall colour.

They glance excellent in white with that wall shade.

But not so excellent with this color…

Which is not “white-white” although it appears to be it. It is my favorite delicate (not warm) white that I employed in our kitchen, morning area and dining area downstairs.
It is a color by Benjamin Moore named Pure White. I experienced it coloration matched at Sherwin Williams while.

I knew I wanted them to have a wooden glance because of anything else I have going on in below. There are many ways to do it but I determined to do it equivalent to how I a short while ago did the bath cupboard in our downstairs guest tub. You can see it here … Coastal Guest Bathtub Refresh

I did do one particular very small minor factor distinct on these though. I’ll show ya! )

I commenced by taping the shelves up with my absolute favorite tape.

Then I painted them with the Cobblestone paint linked over.

And then the extra phase that I did this time…dry brushing on some of the “Ash” shade. (see it previously mentioned?)

And below…

I just believed that may possibly give it a little bit extra dimension like serious wood has underneath the stain.
I assume it was a fantastic selection. Additional may well have been even superior.

After that was dry (I enable it sit overnight due to the fact it is water dependent and the stain is oil centered) I used the stain. (with a lint no cost rag)

See the bottom a person I stained? The best a single is even now just paint.
Isn’t that the coolest? I adore how it appears to be wood-ish. And oh so simply just way too!

So much superior than white. There is a ton of white heading on in here currently, the shelves didn’t will need to be white far too! lol

I’m so joyful with how they turned out. That Driftwood stain is versitile, I explain to ya!
And one of the darker stains I offer in the shop would do the job properly also if you are going for a darker wood search.

By the way, this is not the final styling of the shelves, I just threw that up there for the images.
Might be shut to that though, we’ll see!
